FORSAKEN
There appears to be no word in the English language which describes the melancholic pity we often feel towards inanimate objects; a discarded teddy bear, a balloon stuck in a tree or a broken and unwanted umbrella at the side of the road.
But why do such lost and lonely objects stir such strong emotions? Maybe it comes from our deep seated subconscious – childlike anxieties about loss and rejection which we find hard to shake off as adults.
Roadside tribute
Tossed away
kicked to the kerb
One green bottle
Lost sole
Parked
Left in the dark
To infinity... and gone
Last Christmas
Save me!
